Ear Candling and Zen Head and Neck Massage
Imagine a totally relaxing Zen head and neck massage, sinus drainage massage and ear candling all in one session. This Triple Treat is designed to cleanse, open and relax the senses. Warm air softens the earwax and gently removes the excess buildup from the ear canal, releasing trapped contaminates like dust, dirt, pollen, and debris. The Zen head and neck massage completes the process by draining the sinuses and relaxing the entire face, leaving you feeling refreshed and renewed.
Ear candling has been around for centuries and originated in ancient civilizations such as China, India and Egypt. The Native American culture, such as the Aztec and Mayan civilizations used candling in healing and purification before initiation rites.
WHAT DOES EAR CANDLING DO?
The ear candling process is also believed to detoxify the lymphatic system and clear the sinuses, which can also improve the clarity of hearing, sight, smell and taste. More subtle changes may occur on an energy level resulting in greater emotional stability and an overall sense of well-being. Candling can however, soften and loosen impacted wax allowing the wax to find its way out of the ear canal naturally.
DOES EAR CANDLING HURT?
No, ear candling is a non-invasive, peaceful, relaxing and actually quite a pleasant experience. You should only feel the candle being carefully inserted into your ear. Using ear candles is generally more comfortable and less expensive than conventional methods, which can be painful.
HOW LONG DOES EAR CANDLING TAKE?
Approx 35 to 45 minutes but your appointment will be one hour.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE SESSION?
During the ear candling session you will lie on your side with your body in a straight alignment. A special conical candle is inserted into a protective plate. The candle is lit and slowly begins to burn. The small tapered end of the candle is gently placed into your ear canal. Because of its shape, design and length this helps to draws wax and fungus deposits from inside the ear canal. As the flame seeks oxygen to burn, it converts the inside of the hollow candle into a vacuum that draws residue out of the ear and up into the candle.
As the session progresses, extracted ear wax and fungus will be burned off but a majority will be collected in the bottom part of the candle. After the candle has burned off the therapist may cut open the candle and show you the deposits of any wax and fungus.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER A SESSION?
For a short time after your ear candling session you may feel lightness in your head and noises may seem to be much louder to you. This may be relieved by putting a little ear oil on some cotton and gently inserting this into your ears.
You will most likely notice improved hearing, because the wax blockage is no longer present in you ears. For a day or two after you session you may feel a warmth, or some itching in you ears. This is very easy to resolve….you can relieve the itching by putting drop or two of hydrogen peroxide in you ears then gently wipe them out with a cotton swab. You can also use Echinacea oil.
You may also notice your sinuses are draining, or that sinus drainage increases after your session. This is beneficial and will relieve the pressure in your sinus areas. You may also experience a heightened sense of taste, smell and sight.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE THIS DONE?
Initially people should have just 2 to 3 sessions to get their ears cleaned…however some people may need up to 8 sessions over a 6 month period. Once your ears are clean, personal preference should determine how often you have your ears candled. Once a year would be average and practical unless you have major build up then maybe every 6 months.
WHO SHOULD NOT HAVE EAR CANDLING?
People who have ear tubes, perforated ear drums, or artificial ear drums.
